Why Does Everyone Get the Best of Me… But Me?

Why Does Everyone Get the Best of Me… But Me?

If you’ve ever ended the day feeling poured out, like everyone else received your patience, kindness, energy, and love, while you were left with whatever scraps remained, we want you to know something first:

We get it. We’re walking through this too.

So many women live in a quiet cycle of over-giving. We show up. We stretch ourselves. We pour into everyone else first and tell ourselves we’ll take care of ourselves later.

But later rarely comes.

And over time, the cost of that kind of giving becomes evident.

The Self-Neglect Cycle No One Talks About

Over-giving often looks like love, faithfulness, and strength.
But underneath, it can quietly turn into self-neglect.

It sounds like:

  • “I’ll rest after this season.”

  • “They need me more than I need rest.”

  • “I can push through.”

But here’s the truth we’re learning the hard way:

Giving everyone else your best while you get the bare minimum is not God’s plan.

Jesus poured Himself out, but He also withdrew.
He rested.
He set boundaries.
He protected quiet moments with the Father.

Rest and boundaries weren’t selfish.
They were sacred.

The Hidden Cost of Over-Giving

When you’re always last on your list, the cost shows up in subtle ways:

  • exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix

  • resentment you don’t want to admit

  • guilt when you finally slow down

  • a quiet loss of joy

This isn’t because you’re doing something wrong.
It’s because you were never meant to give from an empty place.

Boundaries Are an Identity Issue

We’ve learned that boundaries aren’t about saying no,
they’re about knowing who you are.

When you know you are deeply loved, chosen, and held by God,
you no longer have to prove your worth through exhaustion.

Boundaries protect the woman God entrusted to you.

And sometimes choosing yourself doesn’t look dramatic,
it looks like small, intentional moments of care.

Getting dressed in something that feels supportive.
Slowing your pace.
Letting truth speak over you before the world asks for more.

That’s why we created MBS the way we did,
with affirmations inside every piece, meant to remind you who you are on the days you forget to choose yourself.

Because pouring into yourself isn’t selfish.
It’s stewardship.

A Prayer for This Season

Lord, help us release the belief that love requires depletion.
Teach us to give from fullness, not emptiness.
Remind us that we matter too, and that caring for ourselves honors the life You’ve given us. Amen.

If you’ve been giving everyone else the best of you,
let this be your reminder:

You deserve care too.
You deserve rest too.
You deserve to be poured into.

We’re learning this alongside you!

With love,

Pam & Mandi
